What if we could benefit from the new ways technology helps us?

Nicole and Cooper look at how digital innovations impact how we care for our seniors with Keren Etkin of  https://www.thegerontechnologist.com.  Keren brings a global lens to technology as a gerontologist and “technologist” from Israel.   She believes that baby-boomers  are going to demand tech solutions to meet thttp://Genontechnologist.comheir needs. Keren explores the cross section between socialization and technology. Today, caregivers expect tech solutions to be available for them when they are in this role.  In the near future technology will be used to extend the capacity of the caregiver to manage their loved one.  It is important to realize that with any new technology that we adopt into our lives we need to allow for time to explore how it will fit and integrate into our lives and that it will not be an automatic perfect solution.   Keren does not feel we will see one brand or one company dominate the market.  In the future she suggests that we will see robotics enter the direct caregiving space.  Robotics will  enter the field to assist patients that need to be lifted and transferred in long-term-care settings which will then result in more bandwidth for the professional caregivers to personally connect with the patients in a more meaningful way. As costs decrease over time, robotics will enter the home market.

Congratulations to Keren Etkin for being named a 2019 Influencer on Aging by Next Avenue. https://www.nextavenue.org/keren-etkin-influencers-in-aging/
